Cathy Hilscher didn’t just start Cats Kingdom. She built it from a deeply personal journey of love, learning, and transformation that began with cats, but ultimately changed how she viewed wellness for all pets.

Her Story

Like many pet parents, Cathy believed she was feeding her animals the best food available. But when her beloved cat Pierre was diagnosed with kidney disease in 2015, she realized that the commercial pet food industry wasn’t always prioritizing animal health.

Through intensive research, she discovered that mass-marketed pet food was missing the mark entirely. Instead of accepting standard prescription diets, she dove into the world of species-appropriate nutrition and holistic health. Through careful diet changes and natural remedies, Pierre’s health improved beyond expectations.

Then came Moo, a health-challenged rescue cat with an autoimmune disorder and kidney disease. Vets did not give him much hope, but Cathy refused to accept that. Through a raw diet and holistic care, Moo defied the odds and is now thriving at eight years old.

Seeing these miraculous transformations firsthand, Cathy knew she couldn’t keep this knowledge to herself. She realized that whether it is a cat or a dog, our pets thrive when we honor their biological needs. What started as a mission for better feline health quickly grew into a passion for helping all pet parents navigate the truth about animal nutrition.

Pierre wasn’t just a pet—he was family. In 2015, when he was diagnosed with kidney disease, Cathy was devastated. When he was adopted for a third time, it lasted only one week before he was brought back again. That was the moment Cathy decided—Moo wasn’t leaving again.

For over three years, Moo wouldn’t let Cathy touch him. He kept his distance, observing but never fully engaging. Then, his health issues began—Pillow Paw Syndrome, chronic inflammation, and early-stage kidney disease at just two years old. Vets recommended lifelong medication and prescription food, but Cathy had already seen the power of nutrition and holistic care with Pierre.
